Yvonne left this world on February 10, 2025 at the age of 92, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. She was predeceased by: her husband Smith Barber; her parents, Gilbert Higley and Dola Higley; her son David Barber; her sister Fran Collins; and her grandson Ryan.
She is survived by: her brothers, Ronnie Freeman and Gilbert Higley (Shelby) of Lumberton, NC.; her children, Terry Barber, Sandy Auten (late John), Smitty Barber, Cindy Barber, Betsy Hendrix, Gail Benton, Steve and Debbie Sczerbiak; and her grandchildren, Von Cranford (Russ), Ladonna Rhoad (Jason), Barbie Lyles (Tripp), Matthew Gitzinger (Kate), Nathan Gitzinger (Emmie), David Barber, Ashley Weeks (Josh), Shane Barber (Mallory), Michael Hendrix and Josh Hendrix (Liz). She is also survived by her 25 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Sea Lawn Memorial Park (17750 Hwy 17, Hampstead, NC 28443).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in her honor.
