He is survived by: his parents, Richard Jenkins Short and Amanda Correll Short of Casar; his wife Betsy Hord Short of Shelby; his son Michael King of Kings Mountain; his stepdaughters, Kaitlyn James, Amanda James and Melissa James of Shelby; his siblings, Tyson Short (Tanya) of George Hildebrand and Trina Beighley of Monroe; his granddaughters, Brooklyn Coates and Brianna Clark; his nephew Justin Tirado of Cherryville; his niece Chloe Tirado of Shelby; his aunt Glenda Drum of Newton; and his cousin Bill Drum of Newton.
