He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruffin Scott Short and Effie Grey Price Short; his children, Ricky Short and Terry Peace; and his siblings, Buland, Ophus, Tilford, Boyd, Hubert Short and Selma Davis.
He is survived by: his wife Bessie Thompson Short; his children, John Short (Susan) of Shelby, Nancy Short of Casar and Susan Short Williams (Danny) of Casar; and his siblings, Hoover Short of Columbia, SC and Naomi Parker of Casar. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
