He was predeceased by: his parents, John Marvin and Beulah Rosser Groce; and his brother Johnny Groce. He is survived by: his wife Sandy Perry; his children, Van Groce, Jr. (Debra) of Sanford and Melanie Shores (Bruce) of Greensboro; his stepchildren, Mindi Bassetti (Steve) of Cincinnati and Brad Fauss (Margaret) of Atlanta; his grandchildren, Will, Nolan Groce, Hudson, Jake Shores, Kaylin, Olivia Bassetti, Sydney, Zack and Geoff Fauss; and his sister Kathryn Waters (Peggy Groce).
