He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore Wiley King and Mary Louise Seay King; his brother Richard Thomas King; and his niece Stephanie King-Compton. He is survived by: his siblings, Mary Sue Carper (Charles), Gail Lynn Forbes (Sam) and James Edward King; and his sister-in-law Phyllis King (Richard Thomas). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and great grandnieces and grandnephews.
