It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Samuel Clyde Winchester Jr. (Cary, North Carolina), who passed away on November 14, 2024, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Winchester and Grace Barnes Winchester; his son-in-law Joseph A. Sasser; and his stepmother Ethel Causey Winchester. He is survived by: his wife Sylvia Weeks Winchester; his daughters, Amy Mattheis (Joe) and Elizabeth Collins (Paul); his grandchildren, Jackson Mattheis, Adam Mattheis, Mason Collins (Caroline), Gena Hall (Andrew) and Benjamin Sasser; his great grandchildren, James Collins and Samuel Paul Collins; his sisters, Jane Pridgen (Marvin) and Kathryn Manning (Don); and his stepsiblings, Doug Causey (Cassie), Ed Causey and Fleming Wooten. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A celebration of life was held on Saturday, November 23rd 2024 at 2:00 PM and on Sunday, November 24th 2024 at 1:30 PM.
