He is survived by: his wife Shelley Burns (Fowler); his daughter Erika Smith (Benjamin); his grandchildren, Madison Batts (Thomas), Kennedy Smith (Terrell), Grace Burns, Cary Burns and Elijah Burns; and his siblings, Janice Lazcano, David Burns (Sherry) and Paul Burns (Darlene). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Donations in his name can be made to St. Baldrick's Foundation and Stop Soldier Suicide, both causes that were dear to him.
