Rebecca Monk Wooten Obituary
The passing of Rebecca Monk Wooten of Cary, North Carolina leaves a void in the hearts of many, as we bid farewell to a loving soul who departed on February 6, 2025 at the age of 97. She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Hampton Monk, Sr. and Mary Josina Stokes Monk; her husband Shade A. Wooten Sr.; her in-laws, Jack and Dixie Wooten; her siblings, Joe Monk Jr., Geraldine Monk Ritchie, Elizabeth Monk Lasley and Martha Monk; and her close friend Malcom "Mal" Chapman.
She is survived by: her children, Shade A. "Chip" Wooten, Jr. (Lisa) of Cary and BJ Gibbs (John) of Waxhaw; her grandchildren, Shade Allen Wooten, III (Melina Gozzo Wooten), Bryant Wooten (John Wayand), Lezlie Williams of Raleigh, Lindsay Gibbs Sansbury (Griff Sansbury) and Gordon Gibbs of Asheville; her great grandchildren, Sutton and Margaret "Maisie" Sansbury of Charlotte; and her nephews, Mike Lancaster, Joe Monk, Stokes Ritchie and Mac Ritchie. She is also survived by ten nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the White Plains United Methodist Church (313 SE Maynard Rd, Cary, NC 27511). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
