He is survived by: his wife Carlyne Mattoon Averell; his sons, Alex and Michael Averell of Cary, NC.; his father John Averell of Dedham, MA; and his sisters, Carolyn Spitler of St Charles, IL and Sharon Buntman of Monrovia, MD..
