He was predeceased by: his parents, George Baureis and Gertrude Fisher Baureis. He is survived by: his wife Martha Baureis; his children, Ted Baureis and Diane Baureis; his son-in-law Ray Fricker; his granddaughters, Samantha and Melanie Gomez; and his siblings, Edward Baureis and Joan Benkert.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Duke Children's Hospital.
