We are sad to announce that on February 6, 2022, at the age of 92, Joan Read Bres (Cary, North Carolina), born in Picayune, Mississippi passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband James Ray Bres Jr. (Jim); her parents, Vivian Read and John James Read Sr.; her brother John James Read Jr.; and her daughter-in-law Virginia Bres.
She is survived by: her daughter Nancy Bres Martin (Chris); her son-in-law Chris Martin; her grandson Matthew Martin; and her children, Meri Kolb (Jaime) of Baton Rouge, LA, Judy Wildfire (Tim), Jane Brinkley (James) of Durham, NC, Mike Bres (Lucy), John Bres (Sherry), Jimbo Bres (Christy) of Birmingham, AL and Bill Bres of Mobile, AL.. She is also survived by her 8 children, 16 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
Donations may be made in her honor to: Alzheimer's Association of Central Alabama, the current incarnation of the Birmingham Chapter that Joan was instrumental in founding back when she was caring for her mother ts afflicted with the disease; or Eastern North Carolina Alzheimer's Association, an organization her family currently is involved.
