He is survived by: his wife Betty Lewis Tart; his daughters, Rhonda Phearsdorf (James Jr.) of Raleigh and Karen Carwell (Jeff) of Clayton; his siblings, Ruth Tart of Raleigh, Betty Royals (Tommy) of Benson, Durwood Tart (Phyllis) of Benson, Rick Tart (Joan) of Benson and Ken Tart (Anita) of Benson; his sister-in-law Glenda Tart of Fayetteville; and his grandchildren, Lance Phearsdorf (Annemarie), Kaitlyn Phearsdorf, Quinton Carwell (Jessica) and Dawson Carwell.
