He was predeceased by: his mother Kay Menius. He is survived by: his wife Deborah Davis Menius; his children, Allison Menius Kieb (Josh Kieb) and Ryan Alan Menius; his father Jack Alan Menius; and his sisters, Merry Kay Leithead and Suzanne Menius. He is also survived by six nieces and nephews.

Alan served on the N.C. State University College of Sciences Foundation Board from 2012 to present.
