He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, W. Guy Mendenhall and Martha Mendenhall; his wife Esther; his daughter Amy M. Benson (Bob) of Wilmington; his sister Smith (Harold) of Raleigh; his granddaughters, Christie Bowman (Mark) of Durham and Anna Alpizar (Brian) of Nashville, Tennessee.; and his great grandchildren, Wilder, English, Hall Bowman, Benson and Walt Alpizar.
