He was predeceased by: his parents, Will Kent and Lillie Culpepper Kent; his siblings, Gladstone Kent (Sarah), Bernice Lasater (Walter), Garnett Kent and Billy Kent (Christie); and his nephew Ronnie Lasater (William Kent).

He is survived by: his wife Mary Kent (Tootsie); his daughters, Kimberly Barker (Mike Barker) and Janet Phillips; and his grandchildren, Kendra Selph (Jeff), Bryan Barker (Jaclyn), Sarah Foreman (Cody) and Courtney Phillips. He is also survived by six great, grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
