He was predeceased by: his parents, Emerson Bernard Deese, Sr. and Ruth Lathan Deese; and his sisters, Willene Deese Presson and Rutha Jane Deese. He is survived by: his wife Priscilla Morgan Deese; his daughters, Angela Deese Marshall (Bynum) and Susan Deese Hughes (Kevin); his granddaughters, Amanda Dale Adams, McKinley Noelle Hughes, Sarah Marshall Orndorff (Devin), Jane Tyson Marshall and Grace Bynum Marshall; and his great grandchild Tyson Charles Orndorff.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Greenwood Forest Baptist Church (110 SE Maynard Rd, Cary, NC 27511) or Transitions LifeCare in Cary (250 Hospice Cir, Raleigh, NC 27607).
