He was predeceased by: his parents, Deaver Shell and Dorothy Hillstrom; his stepfather Bill Hillstrom; and his brother Gary Shell. He is survived by: his wife Betsy Rodwell Smith; his children, Theresa Corbin, David Shell and Jennifer O'Farrell; and his brother Bruce Shell of Wilmington. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
