He was predeceased by: his parents, Patrick Thomas Flaherty and Mabel Margorie Seely Flaherty. He is survived by: his sister Margaret Flaherty (Dolly) of Hanover, MA; his son David Jr.; his grandson Alex of David, III; his children, Steve, Debbie (Jeff) and Jon (Jenny); his granddaughters, Ashley Burke (Ryan) and Hannah Oliver (Evan); his son Bobby (Karen); his grandson Robert; and his great grandchildren, Mickey, Preston, Molly and Ivy.
