She was predeceased by: her parents, Carson J. Smith and Hattie Cate Smith; her husband Luther Sentell Jr.; and her sisters, Oletta Musser and Jessie Himes.

She is survived by: her daughter Susan; her son-in-law Rich Gymburch of Raleigh; her son Steven; her daughter-in-law Jeanne Sentell of Madison, Alabama; her grandchildren, Erin Kincaid, Sarah Gymburch, Matthew Gymburch, James Sentell and Andrew Sentell; her niece Janice Worley; and her great-niece Megan Worley. She is also survived by 3 great grandchildren.
