He was predeceased by: his parents, E. E. Hardy and Minnie Wall Hardy of Carthage; his daughter Anita Hardy Blue of Carthage; his grandson Jonathan Hardy; and his siblings, Colin Hardy, Ruben Hardy, Girtha Cummings, Elbert Hardy (Junior) and Ruth Clapp.
He is survived by: his wife Valeria Arrington Hardy of Carthage; his son Robert Dean Hardy (Gloria) of Jamestown; and his grandchildren, Rob Hardy (Tiffany) of Fontana Village, Laura Mashburn (Phillip) of Carthage, Amy Brown (Brandon) of Raleigh and Elizabeth Caddell (Wes) of Carthage. He is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.
