He was predeceased by: his parents, Dave Toomer and Mamie Lassiter Atwater; and his daughters, Amelia Lassiter and Katrina "Jeanette" Lassiter. He is survived by: his wife Mary Norman; his siblings, Nettie Mae Toomer Brooks and Thomas Davis Toomer; his stepsons, Perry Norman of Sanford, NC, Johnny Mack Norman (LaQuanda) of Moncure, NC and Alfred McLaughlin of Graham, NC.; his sisters, Evelyn Rory of Baltimore, MD, Lucille Thomas of Brooklyn, NY and Jeanette Lee of Pittsboro, NC.; and his godchildren, Darlene Taylor (William), Julius "Tede" Carnegie, Charity Lassiter Ross (Lamar) and Louis Lassiter.
