He was loved and cherished by many people including: his sons, Richard, Gary and Shag; his wife Rebecca Blue Bowen of Carthage; his children, Diann Fortune (Dennis) of Southern Pines and Jene Ronald Bowen, Jr. of Morehead City; his grandchildren, Nicholas Fortune of Southern Pines and Grace Bowen of Alameda, CA; his siblings, Wanda B. Thayer of Rocky Mount and Gary Mattocks of Southern Pines; his parents, Walton Bowen and Neilla Bowen; his brother Tommy A. Bowen; his granddaughter Sarah Ann Fortune; his foster parents, Ruth Mattocks and George Mattocks; and his brothers, Richard and Shag Mattocks. He was also cherished by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
