She was predeceased by : her father Wertz Crawford Kimball; her former life partner Boyce Grier Gibson, Jr.; her husband Lewis Calvin Strickland; and her children, Boyce Grier Gibson III and Clair Euvalea Strickland Brake.

She is survived by : her son Gregory Lewis Gibson (Jean); her son-in-law Jay Frederick Brake; her grandchildren, Amy Gibson Johnson (Brandon), Bradley Lewis Gibson (Kristy), Grant Elliott Gibson (Ashlyn), Carrie Brake Phillips (Patrick) and Jason Robert Brake; and her great grandchild Bentley Lewis Gibson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St John's Lutheran Church in Statesville.
