It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Howard Nivens (Carolina Beach, North Carolina), born in Charlotte, North Carolina, who passed away on February 4, 2020, at the age of 71, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert P. Nivens and Minnie H. Nivens; and his siblings, Jerry, David and Donald Nivens.

He is survived by: his children, Scott, Mark (Gigi) and Brooke Nivens; his wife Ann H. Nivens; his stepson Pressley A. Ridgill, Jr. (Melissa); his grandchildren, Trey, McKenna, Mary, Jackson and Lincoln; and his siblings, Evelyn Craig and Joe Nivens.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made in Howard's honor to the American Heart Association Sumter Clarendon Heart Walk or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
