It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Michael John Rooney of Cape Fear, North Carolina, who passed away on June 20, 2020, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. He is survived by: his wife Mary; his children, Michelle Guenther (Eric) of Houston, TX, Patricia Knowlton of Charlottesville, VA and Kevin Rooney (Stacy) of Raleigh, NC; his siblings, Mary O'Rourke (Jimmy) of Islip, NY, Kathleen Zito (Tommy) of Saratoga, NY and Martin Rooney of Columbia, SC; and his grandchildren, McKean Knowlton, Michael Rooney, Jack Rooney, Grant Guenther, Caitlin Guenther Tripp (Jeremy) and Michael Guenther. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and their children.
A celebration of his life will be planned once Covid-19 restrictions are lifted.
