He was predeceased by: his parents, Mailey Kermy and Addie Plemmons Hipps; his wife Dessa Kathleen Hipps; and his siblings, Katherine Medford and Carleson Hipps.
He is survived by: his children, Lynn Howell (John), Shelia McClure, Eddy McClure (Janice) and Gary McClure (Candi); and his sister Gail Shope (James "Red"). He is also survived by three grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
