He was predeceased by: his father Robert Baxter Smathers; and his siblings, Mitch Smathers, Sandra Rodgers and Sharon Williams. He is survived by: his wife Pamela O'Neil Smathers of Canton; his son Shawn Smathers (Jennifer) of Canton; and his grandchildren, Brooklyn Smathers of Canton and Lucan Smathers of Canton. He is also survived by three nieces; two nephews; a great-niece; two great-nephews.
