He was predeceased by: his parents, Oder Ray and Robbie Crawford Ray; his wife Marianne Gray Ray; and his sister Linda Haney. He is survived by: his son Scott Ray; his daughter-in-law Angie of Clyde; his sister Carol; his brother-in-law Scott King of Hendersonville, NC; and his grandchildren, Parker and Georgia Grace Ray. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
