He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara Jean Collins; and his mother Mary Scruggs Hugo. He is survived by: his children, David Yates (Mary) of South Carolina, Bryan Yates (JeanAnn) of Clyde, Traci Rogers (Tim) of Canton, Buddy Yates (Darlene) of Waynesville and Natasha Sartori (Anthony) of Waynesville; his grandchildren, Taylor Yates, Sarah Dobson, Brooke Mathis, Sidney Yates and Luke Molkenthin; his great grandchildren, Baylee, Brinley, Kayden, Lyla, Kinley, Bradie, Briar, Naomi and Karter; and his sister Carolyn Dale of Asheville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many friends.
