She was predeceased by: her mother Zora Hughes Burress; and her husband Billy Cass Owen. She is survived by: her sons, Stephen Owen (Andrea) of Boone and Joseph Owen (Ken) of Weaverville; her brother Billy Burress (Frances) of Bethel; and her grandchildren, Grace and Pia Owen. She is also survived by two nieces and other numerous cherished family members.
