She was predeceased by: her parents, Major Bynum and Pearl Cook Jackson; her husband Ralph Lyda Brooks; and her siblings, Thelma Godfrey, Christine Eugenides, Lois Godfrey, Juanita Miller, Frances Boone, Roscoe Jackson and Benjamin Jackson.

She is survived by: her son Timothy Ralph Brooks (Bethany Miller Arrowood); her grandson Mitchell Lyda Brooks (Emily McKenna); her sister Jennie Lawing; and her daughter-in-law Rhonda Smith Brooks. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
