He was predeceased by: his parents, John Wheeler and Nellie Penland Wheeler; his siblings, David, Charles Wheeler, Carolyn Goforth, Elizabeth Ramsey, Lois Henderson, Louise Lytle and Ruby Johnson; and his grandson Dawson Wheeler.

He is survived by: his wife Keta Yvonne Wheeler; his children, Larry Allen Wheeler, Jr. of Candler, NC and Keta "Lynn" Wheeler of Candler, NC; and his siblings, Sandra L. Ponder of Candler, NC, George Wheeler of Greenville, SC and Johnny Wheeler (Melinda) of Hickory, NC. He is also survived by six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
