He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry D. Atkins and Alma Whitt; his wife Ilene Lewis Atkins; his grandson Wesley Alan Atkins; and his brothers, Bill, Pete, Roy and Ray.
He is survived by: his sons, John Edward Atkins (Pat) of Candler and Robert Anthony Atkins (Tricia) of Weaverville; and his siblings, Paul, Charles, Jim, Ila and Faye.
