It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Everette Shope of Candler, North Carolina, who passed away on December 18, 2022, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Hobert Shope and Bertha Miller Shope; his daughter Deborah Shope Woodby; and his siblings, Hazel Elizabeth Shope Young, Reverend Garrett Hobert Shope, Jr., Mabel Louise Shope Hooker, William Calvin Shope, Mary Sue Belcher, Robert Matthew Shope, Ruth E. Shope, Jesse Clarence Shope and David Carroll Shope.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Gail Hipps Shope; his daughter Cynthia "Cindy" Jackson (Jeff) of Canton; and his grandchildren, Jason Woodby (Allie), Brian Woodby (Christina), Heather Rountree (Kris) and Andrew Jackson. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
