He was predeceased by: his son Timothy Andrew Brooks; and his sisters, Edith Randall, Patsy Brooks and Sarah Roberts. He is survived by: his wife Mary Frances Brooks of Dunnville, KY; his son Mike Brooks (Darlene) of Middleburg; his grandchildren, Clyde Brooks (Melissa), Collis Brooks (Lacey), Shea Rogers (Corey), Justin Brooks and Tucker Brooks; his great grandchildren, April Brooks and Weslyn Brooks; and his siblings, Horace Brooks of West Asheville, Robert Brooks, Dale Brooks and Clara Singleton of Fayetteville.
