She was predeceased by: her parents, Lebo Murray and Gladys Stamey Murray; her former husband Charles Calvin Lance; her husband James Doc "J. D." Grooms; and her siblings, Phyllis M. Ensley, Martha Lance and Ben Murray.
She is survived by: her children, Marsha McCoy (Danny) of Candler, Carol Poplin (Brad) of Maryville, Tennessee, Charles "Chuck" Lance, Jr. (Kelly) of Candler and Nathan Lance (Laurin) of Inman; and her siblings, Bobbie Jane Whitted of Asheville and Reverend Jimmy Bruce Murray of Broadway, Virginia. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
