He was predeceased by: his parents, William "Willie" and Mildred Burrell; and his brother Gary Burrell. He is survived by: his wife Mary Burrell; his sons, Brian Burrell (Karen) of Perth and Jeff Burrell of Asheville; his stepson Chris Lail (Karen) of Waynesville; his sister Teresa Herrin (David) of Candler; and his grandchildren, Dakota, Cheyenne and Faith Burrell. He is also survived by three step-grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
