He was predeceased by: his parents, Will Daniels and Mima Daniels; and his siblings, Willie James Daniels and Janie Bell Nelson. He is survived by: his wife Laura Ree Blue; his children, Melvin Daniels, Sr. (Capital Heights, MD), Sylvester Daniels (Karen) of Raleigh, NC, Freddie Daniels, Jr. (Pam) of Lanham, MD, Fredia D. Green (late Wade) of La Plata, MD, Shanda Daniels of Gastonia, NC and Natika Boyke of Hampton, VA; his grandchildren, Charles, Lewis, Printess James, Ray Hardy and Phillip B Carter; his siblings-in-law, Frank Hardy of Houston, TX, Barbara Daniels of Ladysmith, VA, Lula Blue of Sanford, NC, Rutha Ray of Broadway, NC, Georgia Carter of Augusta, GA, Geraldine Blue of Sanford, NC and Lelia Blue of Sanford, NC; his godmother Millie Harris; and his close friends, Felton Swan, Linwood Carter and Ben Edwards. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Viewing was held on Friday, December 13th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Knotts Funeral Home (719 Wall St, Sanford, NC 27330). A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 14th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Mt. Nebo FWB Church (3292 Edwards Rd, Sanford, NC 27332). A burial was held on Saturday, December 14th 2024 at the Minter Cemetery Minter School.
