She was predeceased by: her parent Martin V. "Vannie"; her son-in-law Baxter Sawyer; and her siblings, Dorothy Reid, Alton Cartwright and Robert Cartwright.
She is survived by: her parent Mary Anderson "Macie" Cartwright; her children, Joyce Raye Markham (Marty) of Elizabeth City, Raymond Earl "Squirrel" Evans (Sheila) of Elizabeth City and Kay Sawyer of Shawboro; and her grandchildren, Rene, Kevin and Chris.
