She was predeceased by: her son Elder Denvel Sutton; and her siblings, Penny Skinner, Mary Rouse, Martha Riddick, Naomi Sutton, Ruth Sutton and Mike Sutton, Jr..
She is survived by: her children, Carlton Sutton, Sr. (Ilean) of Raleigh, Betty Ferrier (Compton) of Clinton, MD, Darlene Springs (Jimmy) of Garner, Ella Godfrey and Brenda Murden of Winston-Salem; her brother Willie Earl Williams (Ida) of Winston-Salem; her siblings-in-law, Dora Dillard of Elizabeth City, George Murden of Texas and Henry Murden (Belinda) of Winston-Salem; and her nieces and nephews, Barbara Williams, Lauretta Skinner and Woody Skinner. She is also survived by ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
