It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Evelyn Johnson Davenport of Camden, North Carolina, born in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, who passed away on January 1, 2024, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Jennings Bryan and Sybil Jo Layden Johnson; and her siblings, Lamar Johnson, Phyllis Lockwood, C. B. Johnson, Eddie Johnson and Bryan Johnson.
She is survived by: her children, Michelle D. Miles Jason (Thom) and Tony Davenport (Kimberly); her husband Doug; her grandchildren, Aaron Cockrell (Katlyn), Abby Moore (Nathan), Jessie Cockrell, Will Cockrell, Chandler Davenport, Kenny Nixon (Callie), Carter Davenport and Kayleigh Davenport; her great grandchildren, Graham Cockrell, Blakely Nixon and Sylas Nixon; her siblings, Fran Ownley, Harvey Johnson (Lucy) and Larry Johnson (Hazel); and her sister-in-law Grace Johnson.
Mrs. Davenport had battled Alzheimer's for 14 years.
