He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Helwig and Erna Pusemann Helwig. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Helwig; his son Peter Helwig; his grandson Paul Helwig; his stepson Patrick Flood (Heather); his stepgrandchildren, Audrey and Murphy; his siblings, Peter Helwig (Donna) and Dorothy Helwig; and his sister-in-law Catherine Securda (Jack). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
