He was predeceased by: his parents, Ed Murphy and Charlotte Gouge Murphy; and his grandparents, Rev. John and Thelma Murphy. He is survived by: his wife Merianne Murphy; his son John Murphy (Kayla); his grandchildren, Jackson Murphy, James Murphy and Kyle Murphy; his brother Ricky Murphy; and his siblings-in-law, Frank Carroll of Burnsville and Sharon Carroll (Keith Miller) of Winston Salem.
