She was predeceased by: her parents, H. M. Proffitt and Rhoda Proffitt (Fender); her husband Vernon Garland; her daughter Carolyn McMarrow; her grandson Aiden Garland; her siblings, Mae Dearing, Darlene Allison, Bill Proffitt and Jim Harris; and her son-in-law Chad Metcalf.
She is survived by: her children, Vernon, Debbie Sharp (Dave) of McLoud, OK, Tammy Fulp (Michael) of High Point, NC, Pam Metcalf of Toccoa, GA, Clinton Garland (Marie) of Marion, Rickey Garland, Jason Garland of Winston Salem, NC, Chris Garland of Wilmington, NC, Buster Garland (Ann) of Green Mountain, NC, Kenny Garland (Rachael) of Morganton, NC and Dennis Garland (Kola) of Asheville, NC. She is also survived by twenty three grandchildren and twenty one great-grandchildren.
