He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Morris and Marjorie Allen Brown; his son Larry Wayne Brown; his siblings-in-law, Larry Evans, Joseph "Chuck" Gates and Diana Gates; and his nephew Stephen Boyer.
He is survived by: his wife Darlene Gates Brown; his sons, David Stout (Amy) of Gastonia and Mike Brown of Gastonia; his siblings, Ellen Evans of Knoxville, TN, Diana Anderson of Louisiana, Walter Anderson of Charlotte and Dale Anderson of Reidsville; his brothers-in-law, Ronnie Gates (Diana) of Hendersonville, Ray Gates of Burnsville and Jackie Smith (Lori) of Burnsville; his niece Wendy; his nephew Danny Cooke; and his close friends, Bruce and Lori Smith of Alexis, NC.. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Yancey County Animal Shelter at 211 Kind Hearts Way, Burnsville, NC 28714.
