He was predeceased by: his parents, Vance Proffitt and Matilda Buchanan Proffitt; and his brothers, Junior Proffitt, Ed Proffitt, Bill Proffitt and Bob Proffitt.
He is survived by: his children, Heather Young (Jason) and John Proffitt (Heather) of Burnsville; his sister Betty Lavagnino of Virginia; his grandchildren, Jesse Young, Hunter Taylor, Paige Sparks and Garrett Sparks; his great grandchild Julien Taylor; his sister-in-law Wanda Proffitt; and his close friends, Casey, Erica and Brooklyn Edwards. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A reception was held on Wednesday, November 6th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Yancey Funeral Services (378 Charlie Brown Rd, Burnsville, NC 28714).
