He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Buchanan and Georgia Morgan Buchanan; his daughter Patsy Palmer; his sister Mary-Margaret Calloway; and his niece Georginia Davis.
He is survived by: his wife Luanne Buchanan; his sister Georgia Cook (Jerry) of Spruce Pine; his sons, Joe N. Buchanan of Elk Park and Stephen Buchanan (Betsy) of Clover, SC; his grandchildren, Rachel Parsons (Joey) of High Springs, FL, Stephanie Reiling (Cody) of Honolulu, HI, Laura Brice (Josh) of Morristown, TN and Nick Buchanan of Clover, SC; his great grandchildren, Abel and Aurora Brice of Morristown, TN; his nieces, Alice Carroll (Chuck) of Montezuma and Beth Travis (Charlie) of Morganton; his nephew Nick Daniels (Regina) of Newland; his great-niece Kristen Davis (Chris) of Minneapolis; his niece Kim Burleson (Bobby) of Spruce Pine; and also, Abbie Burleson, Kyren and Kaaliya Davis.
