He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Helton and Myrtle Loftis Helton; his siblings, Mike Helton and Brenda Loftis; and his siblings-in-law, Perry Hopson and Paulette Hughes.
He is survived by: his wife Nadine Hopson Helton; his sons, Jerry Shad Helton of Roaring Creek, Richie Wayne Helton (Jessie) of Spruce Pine and Ray Howell (Janel) of Roaring Creek; his grandchildren, Jerry Ethan Helton (Erin), Alexis Helton, Jerry Justin Helton (Emily), Riley Helton, Heather Howell and Desarae Howell; his great grandchildren, Carmon Helton, Cameron Mitchell and Ava Grace Helton; and his sister-in-law Brickie Pittman (Joe). He is also survived by Several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
