She was predeceased by: her parents, Dorus "Lead" Woodward and Georgia Caldwell Woodward; her son Stephen Wayne Boyer; and her mother-in-law Dorothy Ingle. She is survived by: her husband Windol "Ray" Gates; her children, Wendy Cooke (Danny) of Burnsville, Christopher Gates of Gastonia and Jasper Gates of Gastonia; her grandchildren, Lauren Gates, Jordan Gates, Tiffany Hazelwood, Samuel Boyer, Lauran Boyer, Bethany Cooke, Rachel Simmons, Sandra Simmons, Mercedes Cooke, Maverick Boyer and Garrick Pack; her great grandchildren, Matthew Cooke, Robert Sterett, Raeanna Cooke, Elise Fuller, Brandon Cooke II, Cheyenne Cooke and Amelia Hazelwood; and her siblings, Scottie Smith of Rutherfordton, Randy Woodard (Lucinda) of Burnsville and Shane Woodard (Sonya) of Mt. Holly. She is also survived by Several nieces, nephews and cousins.
