He was predeceased by: his wife Emma Jean Hunter; his parents, Claude Hunter and Flossie Hunter; his siblings, JD, Claude Junior, Pansy, Lydia and Bessie; and his grandson Darrell Hunter Jr..

He is survived by: his children, Darrell (Sally Hunter), Alan Hunter, Tom (Tonya Hunter), Jeff (Lisa Hunter) and Debbie; his sister Jessie Robinson; his grandchildren, Eric, Adrian, Luke, Andrea Carothers, Megan Behrns, Austin, Katelyn Boone and Ben; and his great grandchildren, Courtney Hunter and Emma-Jean. He is also survived by daughter; and a host of in-laws, and nephews and nieces.
